New Problems, Creative Solutions

The Forbes Magazine article, "How Technology Will Change The Way Business Is Run in 2021" by Celine Da Costa, inspired a further discussion of how business and specific individuals adapted to the changes COVID-19 brought (click here to read the Forbes article).  This week will focus on a famous saying from the 20th century, "Hard times make strong men/women, and strong men/women make good times." We wanted to also look at how hard times bring adaption, which results in creative solutions!

Before we hop into specific individuals let's analyze broad metrics and talk about the changes. Covid brought about many changes, in just a short time business' either adapted to the new way of doing business or had to close their doors. It was estimated, in just 8 weeks of lockdown, business' would jump 5 years into the future. This jump in the future would focus on the digital world with online shops along with creative solutions in changing the structure of their business -- to adapt to their consumers and the economic state of the world. This turnaround from almost purely in person to being able to do remote pickups and handle the influx of online traffic was a giant step forward in the way of innovating business. Never before has this happened in such an extreme way.

Looking Into The Individuals Who Showcased Adaption:

Who better to start with none other than Mr. Elon Musk himself, the self proclaimed king of the electric car. Elon decided to take time during COVID to start pushing the tesla even harder and trying to make it more affordable. On top of that he started doing lots of publicity stunts talking about mars and starting things to go to mars. Lastly Elon decided to start marketing space travel and make money off of that, the lockdown provided people plenty of time to go wild on the internet and guess who took advantage of that, none other than Elon Musk himself.

Next up,  Jaikishaan Sharma, who runs Sharmaatricks which connects people with social media bases. Kind of like a publicity firm only more complicated and more modern, not as connected to the newspaper and radio.

Taryn Lee, a global brand partner to Healy World, is a digital entrepreneur and influencer who shares about "Helping people evolve into a new wealth paradigm by raising their vibrations and awakening their inner vision and brand" (https://www.taryn-lee.com/). During the COVID-19 Pandemic she discusses how there will be "entirely new medical approaches, new products, and new business models".

Lastly we have Tyler Ornstein, CEO of  Tylers Coffee, a company that took a problem that they saw and used the time in the pandemic to release their acid-free coffee to the market. During the time of the Pandemic, a movement of healthy-oriented foods and drinks really took off, this was perfect for Tyler Coffee's acid free product. This acid free coffee took the world over who like Tyler Orsteins father, could not drink their normal coffee due to the acidity of it.

During the pandemic, a difficult time, many businesses and CEOS had to find a way to differentiate and adapt to the new world of business. Being able to deliver products and services digitally, using the best of their resources to change with the way the business model was changing. Companies of all sizes had to quickly prepare for the massive change of landscape in the world of business, many died along the way, but many like Tesla, Sharmaatricks and Tylers Coffee, thrived during these times.
